The sharing economy provides many new opportunities to do business, for utilising your underused resources and meet new people. Lately, however, some disadvantages seem to be getting in the way – employee rights being violated, legal and regulatory obstruction and sometimes very high commission for the platforms – and these aspects do not create the most beneficial situation for you.
More and more, complementary currencies are being used as an alternative to euros and other national currencies. Examples are Bitcoin, time currencies and local currencies like Dam in Rotterdam. These trade and payment systems strengthen local economies, increase profit for SMEs and the self-employed and help anybody with a shortage of cash but plenty of capabilities. Why are they an alternative, why are they growing?
Together we will investigate the landscape and then develop service concepts using the Dam as an example currency and the sharing economy as inspiration. The aim is to create something concrete: a real idea to experiment with as a service design. You could even launch it on the Dam market before it is ready and test it out!
Open a personal Dam account and your 5 euro opening fee will be converted to Dam immediately, which you can then use to pay for your ticket to this event. The special Engage account also gives you access to 5 Dam interest-free credit!
